    -knowledge worker is a professional who performs knowledge work.
    -to become as a knowledge worker, someone must have:
    1. ability to create knowledge. A business expects its employees to recognize opportunities, solve problem, and create business value.
    2. ability to discovery, transformation, analysis, synthesis, and communication of data, information, and knowledge.

    Q: What role does data-information-knowledge continuum play in success as a knowledge student and future worker?


    ANSWER:

    Definition:
    • Data – raw material unorganized facts, number, pictures, and so on.
    • Information – data that have been organized and are useful to a person
    • Knowledge – created when a person combines experience and judgment with information

    Body:
    • Data-to-knowledge continuum implies that once data are collected, transforming it into information and knowledge adds value to the knowledge student and consequently as a knowledge worker in future.
    • Two types of knowledge:
    i. Explicit knowledge
     Knowledge that is readily codified, such as knowledge in magazine and book
    ii. Tacit knowledge
     Knowledge that is within us, gaining through experience, insight and discovery.
    • These two types knowledge are complementary halves of a lifelong knowledge-creation process
    • Creating new knowledge, transforming explicit knowledge into tacit knowledge, and applying knowledge are ways to student can increase their likelihood for success as knowledge student and worker in future.

    3.Output-The end result of a process. information is the result of the transformation(processing) of data. From an organization perspective, the output of a process is a product or a series.
    4.Data-Raw, unorganized facts.
    5-Information-processed/organized/transformed data that is useful to a person.
    6.Knowledge-Information plus human experience and judgment.
    7.System-A recognizable whole that consists of a collection of interrelated parts that interact with each other to transform inputs into outputs in order to achieve a goal.
